Australia Overseas Study (Welfare)

Australia, as the political and economic center of the Oceania region, is gaining global attention for its moderate burden, moderate welfare type of policy.Den-en Chofu University concluded an agreement with Wollongong College Australia and has been carrying out overseas training with them since 2005.Wollongong City and Kawasaki City are sister cities. The training includes many programs such as learning general social policy at the college in the University of Wollongong, meeting with the Mayor, visiting hospitals and facilities providing elderly, disabled, and foster care, participating in volunteer activities, conducting exchanges with local university students who are majoring in welfare, as well as home stay opportunities for life experience development.
Please note that the Human Welfare Department's overseas training program is carried out every other year.

Features of the Program

  • ・Unique program jointly planned by Den-en Chofu University and Wollongong College.
  • ・University training, courtesy visit to the Mayor, visit to facilities providing elderly, disabled, and foster care, etc.
  • ・Volunteer experience and interaction with local students majoring in welfare
  • ・2 credits are accredited to students who complete the training
  • ・A portion of the activity costs are backed by the university

Details of the Program

  • ・Training period: 17 days (in September)
  • ・Major destinations: Wollongong City Hall, group home for the elderly, Green Acres (disabled persons employment facility), Meals on Wheels (food service volunteers), Wollongong Hospital (informal discussions with social welfare workers), elderly person retirement village, youth center, etc.

New Zealand Overseas Study (Childcare)

New Zealand is internationally recognized for its excellent welfare programs and child education.
Den-en Chofu University concluded an agreement with Massey University Palmerston, located on New Zealand's North Island, and has commenced activities with the university. Students who take the program can learn the principles and policies of childcare, while simultaneously training in the childcare field. Students will have the chance to broaden their understanding of the principles and real-life activities related to children, families, and childcare via the social and cultural background of New Zealand. This will be carried out through many activities such as learning child education and welfare policies at Massey University, visiting child educational facilities, training activities, and home stay life experiences.

Features of the Program

  • ・Receive training for visits to a local kindergarten, nursery school, and elementary school, while learning about Maori culture
  • ・Home stay life experience for broadening understanding via the cultural and social background of New Zealand
  • ・2 credits are accredited to students who complete the training
  • ・A portion of the activity costs are backed by the university

  • ・Training period: 16 days (from the beginning to end of March)
  • ・Major destinations: Massey University, kindergarten, and nursery school
